Former Indian cricketer Karsan Ghavri criticized the renaming of the Pataudi Trophy to the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, calling it disrespectful to the legacy of Tiger Pataudi.
Ghavri believes the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) should have more strongly opposed the name change by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
He also felt Sachin Tendulkar should have been more forceful in his objection to the renaming, suggesting alternatives that would honor both Tendulkar and Anderson without removing Pataudi's name.
Ghavri cited other bilateral trophies that retain their historic names as examples.
